Regarded as Tree City USA, the area offers more than 20,000 street trees. Located in the NE area of Central Ohio and close proximity to Otterbein College, it's a fast growing area. While no longer a bedroom community, it is still rich in history. Many homes date back to the 1800's and the downtown area offers numerous antique shops. The area boasts over 41 parks and has a state-of-the-art community center.
Located in the SW area of Central Ohio, this quiet community offers more home for the money, as it’s a little farther drive to most major attractions of Central Ohio. However, the main center of commerce (Stringtown Rd) continues to grow and includes most leading retailers and restaurants. Home to The Pinnacle Golf Course community. Close proximity to Hollywood Casino and Scioto Downs Track and Casino.
Best known for its Georgian-style homes and white fences, New Albany is an upscale suburb born out of a small village located 20 miles NE of Downtown Columbus. Homes range from modest to very large estates. Top-notch schools are a major draw to this area, though taxes can be somewhat high because many areas include additional community development fees. The beautiful New Albany Country Club area features hundreds of acres of beautiful Georgian homes ranging from $400Ks to over $2M dollars. Convenient to all areas of town, the outskirts of New Albany are currently experiencing large commercial growth. Very popular among young professionals.
Situated just East of downtown Columbus, this historic area is known for early-mid century homes and is home to the Governor’s mansion. Similar to Upper Arlington, Bexley consists of homes ranging from modest to mansion and has a highly-rated school system. Bexley is also home to the Columbus School for Girls, St Charles Prepatory School for boys, and Capital University. Close proximity to Downtown makes it a popular residence location for people working in City/State government.
Located in the NW side, Dublin is largely a more upscale area similar to Upper Arlington, but is much newer overall. Home to numerous golf courses including the Muirfield Championship Course which hosts the annual Memorial Tournament. Dublin has historically boasted one of the higher median household incomes & highly-rated schools. Some smaller, older homes can be found under $200K, but most neighborhoods are $300K and above. Located just off 270 and Rt 33, travel across town and the North side is relatively easy, but traffic is usually pretty heavy because of its popularity.
Located slightly NW of Downtown Columbus, this area is home to some of the most expensive real estate in all of Central Ohio, though home prices range from the modest (~$150K+). Incredibly popular among OSU alum (including former sports stars coming home to roost), professors, and more. The heart of Upper Arlington consists of beautiful stone-laden homes. Top-rated academics and historically strong real estate values makes this area a goal of many Central Ohioans. In fact, it’s one area where it’s common for someone to buy an old home, knock it down and build a new home or estate.
Hilliard -Located on the NW side, Hilliard is popular for its schools, newer homes and access to bike paths. Also popular among people needing/wanting to travel West to Dayton and Indiana. Fairly diverse area offering lots of strip malls, major restaurant chains and big-box retailers. Also, fairly close to Upper Arlington and OSU area. Home values run the gambit from starter homes to estates, but especially middle upper-class neighborhoods in the $200K-$300K range.
Famous for its history and architecture, German Village is located just South of Downtown Columbus. Considered to be upscale urban, with the average home or condo price being above the area overall average. Brick streets, beautiful parks, fine dining, specialty shops and proximity to Downtown make this area popular among young professionals from all walks of life. Centrally located but a little bit of a drive to any major centers of attraction outside of downtown.
Located on the NW side, Powell is largely an upscale bedroom community accented by a charming downtown. Popularity comes with traffic, but the location is easily accessible to several major shopping venues, dining, entertainment, larger employers and a fairly reasonable commute to downtown. Home prices/values are higher by average, and schools are highly rated. Outer rural areas of Powell are home to several horse and mini-farms. Popular among families and working professionals of all ages.
A wildly popular, older area just North of OSU and centrally located, Clintonville is Worthington’s kid brother, featuring historical 2-story homes located on rolling streets, as well as charming cape cods and ranches. Home values have historically been higher and you get less for the money, but people seem to do it. Bordered by campus and Columbus urban neighborhoods, but fairly close to popular downtown areas such as The Short North, Victorian and Italian Villages.
Centrally located on the NW side of Columbus and North of OSU and Clintonville, this area is very popular for its proximity to all things OSU, Downtown and access to all highways. Accented by an active downtown boasting various restaurants and shops including the Old Bag of Nails Pub (formerly a hardware store), Worthington has highly-rated schools and historically strong real estate values. Many family neighborhoods consisting of historical and late-century homes offering tree-lined streets and loads of character.
This area experienced its greatest boom in the early 2000's when their schools were rated among the best in the state and country. Largely a bedroom community, recent development has brought desirable restaurants and stores. Located in the Southeast section of Central Ohio, it’s a slightly longer drive to most large centers of employment, major shopping centers and attractions. Homes range from modest mid-century bungalows to country estates. Being on the outskirts of town, it’s also popular for horse and mini-farms.

Located on the far East side of Central Ohio, Reynoldsburg became popular in the late 1990's thru mid-2000's as being the best value for a home in a good suburban school district. Surrounding and outlying areas include everything from mid-century split-levels and traditional 2-story homes, to newer neighborhoods on the outskirts of town. All major restaurant chains and retailers are nearby, as well as major employers such as The Limited, TS Tech, and the Mount Carmel East Hospital. Real estate values are stable but have seen its ups and downs.
